Gunung Irau (2110M) 2009

On 11th July,2009,the long yearning mossy forest trekking to summit of gunung irau became a reality but not without insurmountable task to overcome the dangerous terrain,muddy and soggy paths,slippery treks with twigs scattering afloat the watery mud which was rather a booby trap if you least prepared a dip dive in the muddy water.One of my friends leg was caught and entangled by roots of plants only rescued by the experienced mountain guide to hack out the way.
The heavy rain made trekking formidable as we had to determine the safest pace on each step to avert untoward fallout.It took us 4 hours to reach the summit of gunung irau,the same time applied to return paths.The situation getting unbearable as a result of incessant downpour,photography became a rare chance and mud on hand also posed a hindrance to snapshot.
Enduring the continual rain for almost 8 hours and unfavorable slick forest route made 4 of my members exhausted with body bruised.
This was my first mossy forest trekking experience,scary but thrilling,real jungle adventure,the memory will last for lifetime.
